I started reading the Fault in Our Stars. It’s odd, because I NEVER read books about real people. But I’m really liking it a lot so far.

So, uh, I ended up designing covers in that same style for every John Green novel.
Sweet.
yes
good
They are all brilliant

I finished Paper Towns today, which got me into my usual post-book re-evaluation of whole life based around said book zone.
The notion of Q’s obsession with Margo really got me thinking about my own, she was an idea he built up in his head for so many years that she was no longer ever a person at all but just that idea but only when he starting seeing the cracks in her vessel did he ever see who she really was and then she could see him.
Such a massive GPOY…

Augh I’m obsessing so much about this book.
So I work at a print shop at my school which means that I occasionally get to print stuff for free, within reason, and so sometimes I print my art. It’s such a bizarre feeling seeing something that only existed on my computer became an actual tangible thing.
So anyway since I’m a nerd and I’m waiting for this book to come out I formatted my original submission into a printable cover, with the dimensions based on my hardcover copy of Paper Towns (as you can see in the third picture).
I’m sure this doesn’t look nearly as good as what the actual as yet unreleased cover will be but this will placate me for the time being. I’ve actually had this printed out for a while but never got around to taking a picture. Unfortunately I have no idea where my good camera is (I think my dad took it) BUT I was impatient and ended up using my phone, so yea, not the best quality photos. It’s like past midnight right now, so I’m not gonna fuss.
The paper itself was too short (we don’t stock longer than 11x17) so the quote on the inside got all squished.
OH before I forget, the little nerdfighter arms on the spine aren’t my design. I found it in a quick Google search. I didn’t find out whose it was until after I printed it, but I believe it was drawn by Vondell Swain, so credit goes to him for that.
GOOD GOD! If I was Penguin, I would give up right now and use this one.

[image description: stills of two posts on Facebook via Twitter by John Green; text of first post reads “Sometimes when I read the condescending rhetorical question headlines in the Huffington Post, I answer all the questions with , ‘Your butt.’”; second reads “Who wore Louis Vuitton better? The next Tim Russert? Who’s the highest paid celebrity couple? Where is God when we hurt? etc.”]
So John and I were contacted by Len Peralta a while back about being a part of his Geek a Week series. This was more or less a dream come true for me. People who have been featured in Geek a Week cards include Wil Wheaton, Adam Savage, MC Frontalot, Neil Gaiman, Weird Al, and Stan Lee.
So, yeah, we said “Yes.” We did a podcast with Len (which is hilarious, btw). Then we talked a lot with Len about what we wanted for our card and we went through a few permutations, before ending up with the final version.
Now the card is done, but in order to get it printed, Len needs to raise enough money to do the actual printing. So he’s put together a Kickstarter page. If you go there and pledge at least $10, you’ll get the card pack that includes our card.
In addition to our card, you’ll get 14 other geeks including George R. R. Martin, Seth Green, Gabe and Tycho from Penny Arcade, and the cast of the Big Bang Theory.
So Go, Now! YAY!
